So here is Sparkelina, AKA Sparky because now we know he is a boy kitty. Ashley and the girls found him on the side of the road about 3 weeks ago. He was all skin and bones then, now he is a plump little kitty. He gets lots of play time from Milo (the Puggle) and Sterling (the Siamese). Enjoy the pictures, and Hayley wanted a pic of her too, so she is on here too, although we have had her for at least 2 years. :o)

Thanks for all the behavior suggestions with Fargo. I've giving him knogs/bones w/pb in them (not frozen because of the mess it would cause on the carpet). I'm taking him to the dog park more. I'm starting to train him to do new tricks. And most importantly I cleared out most of the living room area where he is and have made his toys more visible to him, but only giving him a few a day. I think cleaning out the living room is going to make a big impact. I didn't have time to respond to everyone but wanted to let you know all of the suggestions were great suggestions. Thought I'd do a photo dump cause I think he's so cute. ( puppy cuteness <3 he's still a puppy to me. Image heavy. )

Hi everyone! I'm new to this group, so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Katie, I'm 26 from Toronto Canada. (Why am I in a Tampa group?) I visit the area (actually, Clearwater Beach) pretty frequently, and I'm always looking for new people to hang out with down there and fun things to do. I met some pretty awesome friends through an LJ community a few years ago and we still hang out when I'm down there... so I thought I'd see who comes out of the woodwork this time :) I just got back from a visit a few weeks ago (still editing some photos, but most of them are up here, if you're interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/superflash/sets/72157620683438981/) and I may be back down in a couple of weeks. So... if you read all that... cool! Now introduce yourself and let's be friends :) mood: awake |

Hi Guys! Quck question, how do you curb your dog's herding instinct, if at all? We are pet sitting two other dogs (a basset and a cocker) and Scully insists on doing the ear-nipping, circling, mouth-chewing, neck pulling ordeal. She dosn't herd us, just other dogs. Any tips? We have tried a stern "no!", "AH!", time outs, and just ignoring it, but nothing works. She will chew on our kitten's neck too, and while Kuma can take care of herself, with the dogs, it's a different story. What should I do? Send her to a farm? Buy a sheep? :P Thank you in advance!

So I don't write here all that often anymore. Why is that?
Some would say "not enough time", while others may complain a lack of interest all together.
For me, it wasn't really either of those. It was a lack of something to actually post about, or rather, a lack of anything interesting to write about.
So why now, after all this time of just flooding people with my twitter feed, am I writing something? Well, I don't really know. I guess it's something interesting to write about.
I am going to try and write something here, one a day at a minimum, for a month and see how it goes. Maybe I'll start filling up more and more pages with actual content, maybe I'll start to find I never had a lack of anything interesting to talk about, maybe I just had a lack of willingness to share it, or ever worse, an inability to to share it (ie. lack of skill, of that is possibile).
Well, I'm off to occupy myself for the day. Been writing, which may have led to this post. Had some cool dreams, have made sure to take notes, and have come up with some awesome worlds and ideas. Who knows what might come of it. Free time, an active imagination, and notes might just take me somewhere.
ciao.

I don't know what it is, but something about this song is haunting. I heard it in a place where I want to be forever. Familiar... but at the same time a sense of something new, exciting, and enticing. Even more, it is frightening to hear at times. That fear of breaking a wall down, leaving a door unlocked, removing clothing and being exposed.
See beyond the moment - Think beyond the day Hear the word - My voice will not be cast away Fatalistic fortune - Ever near the end Love goes on - But Time does not return again
Across the sky - I will come for you......If you ask me to Demystify - Your uncommon dreams......Stranger things have come true
Fear no more the midnight - Fear no more the sea Close your eyes, regret nothing - You're safe with me Look into the shadows - Step into the mist Search your land but doubt never - I still exist
Across the sky - I will come for you......If you ask me to Demystify - Your uncommon dreams......Stranger things have come true
Ask yourself: is this all there is Take no answer but the one you find I have put my faith in aberrations of your kind But even if you're in my mind
Across the sky - I will come for you......If you ask me to Demystify - Your uncommon dreams......Stranger things have come true
Should we hear the silence - Should we hear the noise I don't need this blind acceptance - I have made my choice Light lives in the darkness - Beauty lives in pain In destruction we may lose ourselves - But still I will remain Across the sky - Across the sky
See beyond the moment - Think beyond the day - Hear the word Hear the word

| Farmer's markets |

I need to get better and cheaper produce. I've heard that farmer's markets are where it's at for such things. Problem is, the one that's closest to me isn't good. At all. Last time I was there it looked like half the produce was rotting in the bins, like they never went through them and got rid of older stuff. Anyway, I need a good one that isn't an hour away. I live in Gibsonton so New Tampa or anywhere past Brandon would be too far to go for such things and with Wimauma not too far away, there should be some hella good ones in this area. I just don't know where to look, any help?

| It's Not My USB Drive |

It's not my Firefox Portable install. It's Vista. Firefox will just...pause. For anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. If a video is playing, sometimes the audio will still stream and when the pause is done it looks like the video is fast forwarding to catch up. Sometimes the video pauses all together. Same thing with text. Will stop taking input and then sometimes catch up. (makes composing ShrinkGeek articles fun). I formatted the USB drive I run Firefox off, reinstalled Portable Apps and Firefox, I also wiped the hard drive and reinstalled Vista. Same problem. Also, just noticed, when the pause happens I cannot get to anything else in Vista. The whole system seems to be put on hold. The "wow" factor still hasn't hit. Windows 7 Enterprise cannot come too soon. Of course we have only messed with the Beta here, and for all I know it will eventually have the same problems or the image our IT area builds will be out of whack a bit (as I suspect the Vista image may be an issue, not Vista itself with this whole USB drive issue).

| KayCee's face paralysis, an update |
|
|

Some of you may remember this post in which I detailed my old pup KayCee's right-side facial paralysis. I realized today that I forgot to update you all. The vet did some preliminary testing, but nothing terribly in depth, and determined that it was idiopathic (without cause) facial paralysis. Fatty was prescribed a low-dose steroid and some anti-inflammatory meds. They seemed to be working, and she regains partial movement of the ride side of her face! Until today. :( We noticed that her left side is now fully paralyzed as well, and though her right has not gone back to full-on paralysis, the fact that the steroid did nothing to prevent the left side from following suit was terribly disheartening. :( We are taking her back to the vet later this week, but I'm pretty sure it will involve MRIs and CT scans that we simply don't have the means to fund. Our plan, if there is nothing else that can be done, is to simply let her life out her older days and when her quality of life diminishes, let her go. *sigh* I'm a mess.
